OK, so not really. Billy may have used those words to eulogize Julius Caesar, but they are fitting in the description of the purpose of this blog. Too many media outlets and web sites cater to the left and to the right exclusively. Where are independents, such as myself, supposed to go to get balanced commentary on the issues that strike a cord with intelligent and well-informed Americans?
Greta Van Susteren? Anderson Cooper? Keith Olbermann? Bill O’Reilly?
No, no, absolutely no, and not a snowball’s chance in hell
Hence, the creation of “The Real No Spin Zone.”
I will be your solace from biased media outlets and provide commentary on current events without the taint of a liberal or conservative viewpoint. I will be your unbiased guide through the political whirlwind, economic meltdowns, and social events that affect our lives.
Now you might be wondering whether you can truly believe me. How do you know that I’m truly an Independent that sees the virtues of both the Democrats and Republicans? How do you know I won’t be just like the rest of the mudslingers out there?
Well in the interest of full disclosure, below is how I stand on the issues and how strongly I feel about them.
Domestic Issues
- Strongly opposes affirmative action
- Strongly supports death penalty
- Supports absolute right to gun ownership
- Supports legalization of marijuana
- Supports drilling in ANWAR and identifying American-based sources of oil
Economic Issues
- Supports privatization of Social Security
- Supports national sales tax
- Strongly supports lowering of capital gains tax rate
- Strongly opposes estate tax
Social Issues
- Strongly supports woman’s right to choose
- Strongly supports same-sex domestic partnership benefits
- Opposes school vouchers
- Strongly opposes teacher-led prayer in public schools
International Issues
- Strongly supports replacement of coal & oil with alternatives
- Strongly opposes Patriot Act
- Opposes illegal immigrants earning citizenship
- Strongly supports eliminating U.S. presence in Iraq
This is just a snapshot of my beliefs on the issues concerning America today, and as you can see I hold beliefs that are the backbone of both sides of the political playing field. Thus I find myself to truly be an Independent who does not feel comfortable getting in bed with either party. Better yet, because I am not affiliated with either side, there will be no hidden agenda in the current events on which I will choose to opine, nor will there be a bias in the commentary of said events.
